Model is mostly complete, just tuning the tolerances and shaping the internals to securely fit the parts

Howdy! I’m starting this up as a monthly place to showcase what I’ve been working on, both commission work and personal projects.

My main project has been making a replica prop of the “Astral pulse” from the game dispatch. I’ve seen a couple people make their own online but i wasn’t satisfied with the quality, and i couldn’t find anyone who’s made it with a functional spinning internal helix, so i decided to take a crack at it! If i can get this polished and repeatable then I’m planning on listing it for sale, i also have an idea for another dispatch prop I’d like to make after this.

I also made a replacement latch for my laundry detergent pod box, the original part was way too thin in places and barely lasted a week before snapping. I’m quite happy that i managed to match the curvature of the sides and the top on my first try.

Lastly I made a quick piece for my project car. I needed to extend my throttle cables because I’m doing an engine swap so i came up with these 2 pieces that clamp onto an existing bracket. They ended up making the cable movement very visible which I’m super happy about.

You might be concerned with the engine heat causing problems or melting with the plastic brackets. I’m trying out a glass-reinforced PLA that reports to have about 100F headroom above my max engine temp before it starts to deform, if the data sheets are to be trusted. So i figured I’d give it a shot to see if it works!
